I think a prenup is a must because especially in California the assets in a divorce are split up 50/50 and that is just not fair to whoever the breadwinner is. Case in point, Kobe Bryant. He made plenty of money in his career so far and stands to make much more. However his wife contributed to little to none of it and she gets 50% of his assets? How is that fair? I know he has kids and I am not saying that he should not be held responsible for that. I absolutely think that he should be obligated to take care of his children especially considering he is not hurting for money. However, the idea that she is entitled to half of his wealth just because they were married and are now separating is simply ridiculous. For this reason this should be a must for any couple because the person with the money going in to a marriage should be the same person with the money coming out should the marriage fail.
